Anyone who supports the goals of the HBOC Society is eligible for membership.  As a member you will:

• receive the quarterly newsletter, "Gene Scene";

• be eligible to run for office on the Board of Directors and have voting rights;

• be notified of education seminars, monthly peer support group meetings, social events and all other meetings of the HBOC Society; and

• have borrowing privileges at the HBOC  Society Library.

The HBOC Society is supported financially by public and corporate donations, memorial donations, membership fees, fundraising activities and grants for special projects.

FUNDRAISING

We are the voice for families affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer in Alberta.  The best thing that could happen would be that those families wouldn't need us anymore -- because there would be a cure for cancer or researchers would find the sure-fire prevention, or a totally reliable test would find cancer before it was a threat.  But we're not there yet!

As a charitable organization, we rely on fund raising events and donations to keep us running.  Our membership fee doesn't begin to cover all the costs associated with providing ongoing services.  In order to remain viable, we must grow!  Corporate and personal donations may be made by mailing a cheque or money order to the HBOC Society of Alberta, #114, 11728 Kingsway Ave., Edmonton, Alberta  T5G 0X5, or donating online (click "Donate" button at top of screen for options)

VOLUNTEERS
